GRACE JONES AGE 62  IN THIS PICTURE… WOW

Right now I’m snapping my fingers and bobbing my head to Grace Jones’s ‘Pull up to the Bumper Baby’  I even tried to do a Michael Jackson moon walk, but bumped my heel into the refrigerator,  and at 62 years old my Grace has still got the stuff….  Flamboyant and sexy… she’s what Justin Timberlake meant by ‘Bringing Sexy Back’.  Ms. Grace was before Madonna, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, oh yeah even Janet Jackson they all took their cue’s from Ms. Jones.

Talk about striking a pose!   Are you picking up what Grace is putting down?  I am and I love it.

Grace Jones was born as Grace Mendoza on May 19th, 1948 in Spanish town of Jamaica Grace is a famous Jamaican–American actress, singer, lyricist, dancer and supermodel.

Grace Jones was born to mother Marjorie and father Robert W. Jones, who was a clergyman and a politician. Grace has a brother named Christian who is now known as Bishop Noel Jones. She relocated to Syracuse, New York along with her family in 1965. Grace Jones has studied theatre at Syracuse University.

Grace Jones began her movie career with the role of a drug courier Mary in a 1973 film “Gordon’s War”. Gracegot a breakthrough in her film career with the role of Zula in a 1984 film “Conan the Destroyer” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The movie became a big hit and Grace Jones landed the role of a Bond girl in a James Bond 007 film “A View to Kill” {1985} starring Roger Moore as James Bond. Jones played the role of May Day, the chief aide and lover to villain Max Zorin in this Bond flick. Her Bond movie became a big hit. She then followed it up with a role in a vampire film, “Vamp” {1986}. Her performance in these three movies won her Saturn Award Best Supporting Actress nominations for three consecutive years in 1985, 1986 and 1987 respectively. Grace Jones has also acted in movies like “Straight to Hell” {1987}, Eddie Murphy star of “Boomerang” {1992}, “Palmer’s Pick Up” {1999}, and direct-to-video films “Wolf Girl” and “Shaka Zulu: The Citadel” {both 2001}, and German language movie “Falco – Verdammt, wir leben noch!” {2008}. Grace Jones has also spent several years in Paris as a model, where she modeled for celebrity fashion designers and endorsed famous products.

Amidst her movie and modeling career, Grace Jones plunged into music and released several notable studio albums. Beginning with “Portfolio” in 1977, Grace Jones released an album a year until 1982. After taking a hiatus for three years from music, Jones again got back into music in 1985 and released three more albums since; the last being “Bulletproof Heart” in 1989. Grace Jones whose vocal range spans two-and-a-half octaves can easily switch modes from contralto to soprano without sacrificing the melody. She has to date released nine studio albums, most of which are dance club hits. Jones recorded two more albums “Black Marilyn” in 1994 and “Force of Nature” in 1998,’ but were not released. Her latest album “Hurricane” [Wall of Sound] is slated for release in late October of 2008.

Grace Jones during her musical acts has always performed with live lions and leopards and became a sort of a cult figure mostly with the gay music lovers. She was thus rightly dubbed as ‘The Queen of Gay Discos’. Grace Jones received Grammy and MTV Video nominations in 1984 and 1986.

Grace Jones was romantically involved with both bodybuilder-turned-actors, Dolph Lundgren of Swedish and Sven-Ole Thorsen of Danish in the 1980s. She also dated French photographer Jean-Paul Goude and they together have a son named Paulo, now a member of French pop group “La Gouache”. Grace Jones in February of 1996 married her bodyguard Atila Altaunbay. It is reported they later took divorce. Grace Jones, 62 is reportedly engaged to music producer Ivor Mervyn Vigors Guest, 4th Viscount Wimborne [born 1968], who is twenty years her junior. The British media described their relationship as ‘on/off’ most of the time.
